. Why is CA moving from two antivirus engines to one?
A. Customers are increasingly asking for a simplified and unified approach to handling malware and spyware
with a unified engine. Switching to only the VET engine in eTrust® Antivirus is the first step in CA’s long-term
strategy to unify its malware and anti-spyware/adware scanning engines.
Q. Why did CA choose the VET engine going forward?
A. CA determined that the VET engine could better support the future integration of its malware and
spyware/adware engines and provide the most robust single engine for all threat functionality.
Q. If I don’t apply the update and continue to use the InoculateIT engine, will I still be protected?
A. Antivirus signatures need to be updated regularly to provide maximum protection. While the InoculateIT
engine will continue to function after the January 2007 engine convergence, CA will no longer provide signature
updates for the InoculateIT engine after that time. At the point, CA will on provide signature updates for the VET
engine.
