HELP !!! Сеть Novell и 3Com4228G switch

Сообщение Квак С.С.

SuperStack II/3 Switches - Clients having problems logging into servers and/or having problems obtaining IP addresses through DHCP after booting up or a power cycle

Problem: Clients having problems logging into servers and/or having problems obtaining IP addresses through DHCP after booting up or a power cycle

Problem: Cannot get IP address from DHCP server

Problem: Apple users unable to connect to appletalk zone upon bootup

Fact: Spanning Tree Protocol

Fact: STP

Fact: DHCP

Fact: RSTP

Problem: Every time a PC, end station or a Host is switched On or Off the link Level on the port will go up or down and this will cause the associated STP Topology change

Problem: Spanning Tree (STP) Topology changes observed on the Network

Problem: DHCP client is unable to obtain an IP address upon boot up or power cycle. It is sometimes possible to get an IP address if the user intervenes and renews the IP address

Problem: PC, end station or a Host having problems logging into servers upon boot up or power cycle

Cause: When Spanning Tree is enabled and a link up/down condition is seen. Each port participating in the Spanning Tree Protocol must first go through some initialization stages ( Spanning tree states listening and learning) before forwarding traffic on that port. This can take anywhere from 30 to 40 seconds and causes problems for stations that send out a request to search for a server as soon as the protocol stack is initialized.

Change: With the Fast Start option, a port will skip the initialization stages of spanning tree and will forward traffic as soon as the link comes up.

Fix: 1) Either disable Spanning Tree on the switch or,

2) For switches that support RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree) - set Spanning Tree for RSTP

3) For switches that support stpFastStart - set the spanning tree port state to enable stpfastStart
This configuration parameter can be configured from the command line interface (CLI). It can not be done form the web interface. Enable this on ports that have end stations directly connected to them. Do NOT enable this on ports that have networking communication equipment (routers, hubs or switches) connected to the port. Login as admin or a user with security access level. From the CLI type in "Bridge port stpFastStart" - next a prompt for "Select bridge port" will appear. The option to configure all the ports at once or do each port individually. If most of the ports on the switch have end users, you could enable stpFastStart on all ports, then disable stpFastStart on ports connected to networking communication equipment- hubs, switches and routers.
