IO performance test for NetWare 4.x, NW5.x and NW6.x
10 available tests for testing write/read performance:
    5120 *     1KB chunks
    1280 *     4KB chunks
     640 *     8KB chunks
     320 *    16KB chunks
     160 *    32KB chunks
      80 *    64KB chunks
      20 *   256KB chunks
      10 *  1024KB chunks
      10 *  5120KB chunks
      10 * 10240KB chunks
Statistics for each read/write cycle will be available in
a file along with more detailled results about the performed
test. IO_TEST is a multithreaded NLM to provide high accuracy
results of the IO-subsystems performance.


Installation:
-------------
- create the SYS:/IO_TEST directory
- copy the file IO_TEST.nlm and the license IO_TEST.dat to the 
  SYS:/IO_TEST directory
- NW4.x, NW5.x and NW6.x ... just load it with
  LOAD SYS:/io_test/io_test.nlm
  necessary support modules are autoloaded on all platforms
Note: 1: If IO_Test is not started from the SYS:/io_test directory
         it will copy itself and the license there and perform a 
         relaunch. This function is needed and should not be overridden.
      2: if no license is available only volume [0] SYS can be tested
      3: if licensed to local server, remote servers can be tested as well


Usage:
------
- start IO_TEST:
  LOAD SYS:/io_test/IO_TEST.nlm
  -> follow the instructions on the screen
     - choose a volume to test
     - choose the test to run
     - choose if Io_Test should purge deleted files
       before running the test
     - 2nd instance of Io_Test will load and perform the 
       appropriate test

- Command Line Options:
  IO_TEST can be run in silent mode with command line options
  IO_TEST -T <test>        type of test: 'small', 'medium', 'big'
          -V <volumename>  name of the volume to test without ':'
          -D on            switch on the debug mode 
  Option -T and -V are both required to lauch from CLI without menu

Note: To use IO_TEST.nlm as a 'purger' for deleted files launch:
      LOAD IO_TEST.nlm -V <volume> -T purge
      -> this only will purge the deleted files on the volume

NEW FUNCTIONALITY:
------------------
Testing of CD/DVD Rom.
- download the io_test_iso.zip file (180MB) and create a CD/DVD with
  the ISO file contained in it
 OR
- start io_test and create the image files on a netware volume
Note: the image files only can be created on a local netware server
Note: the image files must be deleted manually


Results:
--------
- If the SYS: volume supports LONG names, files with the name specific 
  to the start date and time will be created in SYS:/IO_TEST/
  nameing as follows:
    <servername>_<date>_<time>.txt for the results
    <servername>_<date>_<time>.cfg for the config.txt
  if SYS: does not support LONG names all results will be written to 
  the file SYS:/io_test/result.txt and result.cfg.
  If these files are existant they will be overwritten
- A file sys:/io_test/debug.log will be written with general information
  about the first instance of IO_TEST working in CLI mode
- temporary testfiles will be deleted upon exit, if not delete the 
  SYS:/io_dir/ directory manually

Issue: test will not perform if SYS supports long and tested volume not

Issue: license file not copied with io_test.nlm to correct folder


Changes/Fixes in V02.01A
------------------------
Issue: debug.log did not support a limit and could grow endless
Issue: Tool has been free in BETA state
Note : if server running io_test is not licensed and server which is licensed
       (server or tree) is tested remote, full funcionality to the licensed server
       be available


Known Issues:
-------------
- if SYS: does not support LONG name space (some NW4.x servers),
  RESULT.TXT and RESULT.CON will be created. Existing files will be 
  overwritten!
- there is no check for BlockSubAllocation on native NetWare volumes.
  We do not use and only allocate FULL and FREE blocks.
  the volume might report 15% or more free space and IO_Test is not
  able to perform all tests => chose to purge volume before the test
  and perform test again.
- path >255 characters has not been tested with /purge option
- remote login from NW4.x server to NW5.x and NW6.x server only
  working if IPX is configured on all servers.
